{"id":112,"date":"2011-06-12T01:37:20","date_gmt":"2011-06-12T06:37:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/?p=112"},"modified":"2011-06-12T01:37:36","modified_gmt":"2011-06-12T06:37:36","slug":"the-dance-piece","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/?p=112","title":{"rendered":"The Dance Piece"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, I have to admit that country music is not my favorite.\u00a0 But there is one song that sticks with me.\u00a0 Garth Brooks \u201cThe Dance\u201d.\u00a0 It always reminds me of my Mom, my parents.<\/p>\n<p><em>Looking back on the memory of<br \/>\nThe dance we shared beneath the stars above<br \/>\nFor a moment all the world was right<br \/>\nHow could I have known you&#8217;d ever say goodbye<br \/>\nAnd now I&#8217;m glad I didn&#8217;t know<br \/>\nThe way it all would end the way it all would go<br \/>\nOur lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain<br \/>\nBut I&#8217;d of had to miss the dance<br \/>\nHolding you I held everything<br \/>\nFor a moment wasn&#8217;t I the king<br \/>\nBut if I&#8217;d only known how the king would fall<br \/>\nHey who&#8217;s to say you know I might have changed it all<br \/>\nAnd now I&#8217;m glad I didn&#8217;t know<br \/>\nThe way it all would end the way it all would go<br \/>\nOur lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain<br \/>\nBut I&#8217;d of had to miss the dance<br \/>\nYes my life is better left to chance<br \/>\nI could have missed the pain but I&#8217;d of had to miss the dance<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Written by Tony Arata<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I always wondered if my Mom regretted marrying my Dad.\u00a0 Did she wish that she had stayed in Minnesota?\u00a0 It would have been so much easier. \u00a0Safer.\u00a0 I wouldn\u2019t blame her if she did have regrets.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t my most burning question but I didn\u2019t think that I would ever know the truth.\u00a0 In my Mom\u2019s last year, especially in her last weeks we had conversations that I never thought we would have.\u00a0 She was so much freer than I had ever seen her.\u00a0 I know that this is the natural instinct when death is near but I didn\u2019t know if this would be the case with my Mom.\u00a0 I\u2019m thankful that it was.\u00a0\u00a0 But even with her new found freedom of thought I didn\u2019t think I could ask her this question.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t know if I could handle the answer.<\/p>\n<p>A few weeks before she died she was talking about my Dad and suddenly just said, \u201cI don\u2019t regret any of it.\u201d\u00a0 My heart skipped and I wanted to be sure of what she was saying so I asked if she was talking about marrying my Dad.\u00a0 She said, \u201cYes.\u201d\u00a0 She said that it hadn\u2019t been easy.\u00a0 It had been very painful but she didn\u2019t regret those three years they had together.\u00a0 It had been worth it.<\/p>\n<p>That is what I want to remember today, June 12, 2011. \u00a035 years after my Dad was murdered and my Mom was left to raise us.\u00a0 It was and is worth the pain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, I have to admit that country music is not my favorite.\u00a0 But there is one song that sticks with me.\u00a0 Garth Brooks \u201cThe Dance\u201d.\u00a0 It always reminds me of my Mom, my parents.
