{"id":173,"date":"2011-08-16T21:23:11","date_gmt":"2011-08-17T02:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/?p=173"},"modified":"2014-09-10T22:13:50","modified_gmt":"2014-09-11T03:13:50","slug":"the-7th-floor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/?p=173","title":{"rendered":"The 7th Floor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the next 5 days I tried to relax; tried to enjoy my husband and kids because I had a feeling that this would be our last chance for a while.\u00a0 But my mind was back in Winnipeg.\u00a0 I knew that my Mom was now stable but there was a chance of another emergency at any time.\u00a0 And I felt so guilty about having left when she was in such a bad state; even if there was no way for me to know what was going to happen.\u00a0\u00a0 After leaving Minnedosa we went to visit my Dad\u2019s sister in Saskatchewan.\u00a0 It was comforting to be with family at such a difficult time. Of course cell service was spotty at best so I was thankful for my Aunt\u2019s land line to keep in contact with my sister.<\/p>\n<p>Friday night we stayed in Brandon, 2 hours from home.\u00a0 When we got up it was pouring rain and I just wanted to get home.\u00a0 We had to drop our speed and actually come close to a stop on the highway a few times because I could barely see the road.\u00a0 But all I cared about was getting home to see my Mom.\u00a0 We drove in the driveway and it was still raining but not as hard.\u00a0 Pasith took the kids in the house and helped me get the luggage in.\u00a0 I threw everything in the back door into the kitchen, said bye and left.\u00a0 I got to the hospital early afternoon and was in a near panic to get up to the 7<sup>th<\/sup> floor.\u00a0 I hadn\u2019t spoken to her yet, only my Aunt A. and my sister.\u00a0 The rain had finally cleared.<\/p>\n<p>There she was in her bed by the window with a beautiful view of the Red River.\u00a0 She had the tube out of her nose and they were allowing her broth and light foods.\u00a0 She was so excited to tell me about how much better she was and wanted to know how our vacation had been.\u00a0 I told her that I didn\u2019t want to talk about it because I felt guilty for sitting on a beach and visiting family while she had been in such a horrible situation.\u00a0 She said that she had wanted us to have a good time and had hoped that we wouldn\u2019t come home.\u00a0 She wanted to know about our vacation to take her mind off what she was going through.\u00a0 Mom was allowed to go for short walks and wanted to show me how well she was doing.\u00a0 So we went down to the end of the hall to the visiting area over looking downtown and both rivers.\u00a0 While we sat there we got caught up on most everything; except her condition.\u00a0 She didn\u2019t offer up much information on what had happened or was going to happen just what she had to and then asked if I had spoken with my sister or Auntie A.\u00a0 I knew Mom well enough to leave it alone.\u00a0 I helped her back to her room and said I had to go to the washroom.\u00a0 I went down the hall to the nurses desk and asked how she was really doing.\u00a0 Surgery was still a possibility but it depended on her condition.\u00a0 They had drained off another liter of fluid from her lungs, so that was 3 \u00bd litres in 2 \u00bd months.\u00a0 They were going to have to \u201ctap\u201d her lungs to get rid of the fluid once she was well enough.<\/p>\n<p>I stayed till about 9:30 that night, went home overwhelmed but relieved to be back.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the next 5 days I tried to relax; tried to enjoy my husband and kids because I had a feeling that this would be our last chance for a while.\u00a0 But my mind was back in Winnipeg.\u00a0 I knew &hellip; <a href=\"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/?p=173\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[8,7],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/173"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=173"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/173\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":175,"href":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/173\/revisions\/175"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=173"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=173"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=173"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
