{"id":204,"date":"2011-10-23T00:10:07","date_gmt":"2011-10-23T05:10:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/?p=204"},"modified":"2014-09-10T22:22:47","modified_gmt":"2014-09-11T03:22:47","slug":"er-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/puzzle-peace.com\/?p=204","title":{"rendered":"ER Visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back to my Mom Pieces:<\/p>\n<p>The months of October through December 2009 were a roller coaster.\u00a0 Mom was at home with home care several times a day, me stopping in 2 to 3 days a week, my sister coming by most days and my Auntie A.\u00a0 coming and staying for a few days at a time.\u00a0 Mom struggled with the loss of some independence.\u00a0 She was still driving but just to the post office or church etc.\u00a0 Her breakfast out with friends was more important than ever.\u00a0 Mom had to keep her colostomy in mind at all times and she never got used to caring for it.\u00a0 She was nervous leaving the house in case something went wrong and being in close proximity to the hospital was a necessity. \u00a0Mom had to take more than a few trips to the ER for help.\u00a0 They got used to seeing her unfortunately.<\/p>\n<p>One Saturday evening Pasith, the kids and I went to town to have supper at her house.\u00a0 After supper Pasith took the kids out to his brother\u2019s house.\u00a0 My Mom went into the bathroom and after a few minutes I realized that she hadn\u2019t come out.\u00a0 I went to ask her if she was okay and saw that she was in the bathroom with the light off.\u00a0 And she wouldn\u2019t answer me.\u00a0 Finally I told her that if she didn\u2019t answer me I was coming in to the bathroom.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t know if she had fainted.\u00a0 I hadn\u2019t heard her fall but I wasn\u2019t taking any chances.\u00a0 She cracked the door open but still wouldn\u2019t talk \u2013 she just didn\u2019t want me to come in.\u00a0 I was terrified and didn\u2019t know what to think or do.\u00a0 I asked her if she needed to go to the hospital.\u00a0 I begged her to talk to me.\u00a0 I called Pasith and asked him to come back.\u00a0 I needed his help to get her in and out of the car.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t sure what I was dealing with.\u00a0 So he came back and by that time I had gotten her out of the bathroom and she agreed to go to the hospital \u2013 across the street.\u00a0 She wasn\u2019t able to walk that far so Pasith and I helped her into the car and drove her over.\u00a0 I went in with her and Pasith went back to his brothers.\u00a0 I never found out what happened in the bathroom.\u00a0 I don\u2019t remember what happened at the hospital and I don\u2019t know how long we were there.\u00a0 The only thing that has stuck with me from that night was the horrible helplessness not knowing what to do when she wouldn\u2019t answer me.\u00a0 I have the vision of standing in the kitchen doorway staring down the hall at the bathroom door and not seeing any light underneath and wondering if I needed to call an ambulance, my husband, my sister or all three.\u00a0 I had been cautious in all of my previous visits over the last few months but after that I just knew that I had to be prepared for anything.<\/p>\n<p>She and I were so thankful that we had been there.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure what would have happened if we hadn\u2019t been.\u00a0 God was definitely watching over Mom while she was sick.\u00a0 There always seemed to be people with her when she needed help.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back to my Mom Pieces: The months of October through December 2009 were a roller coaster.\u00a0 Mom was at home with home care several times a day, me stopping in 2 to 3 days a week, my sister coming by &hellip;
